iTero Scanner
More Accurate Digital Impressions & A More Comfortable Patient Experience
No more goop, gagging, or discomfort. Using an iTero scanner, our orthodontist can take a highly accurate digital orthodontic impression for your treatment. This new technology completely eliminates the tray and putty impressions where the experience is comparable to stuffing a big wad of gum in your patient’s mouth. The old technique is incredibly unpleasant and uncomfortable. Often multiple rounds of impressions are needed that can be rejected, broken, or misplaced. An iTero scanner ensures a more accurate impression from the start, resulting in improved orthodontic treatment and a more comfortable patient experience. Digital impressions also give the patient the ability to see their teeth instantly in 3D, improving communication during the consultation and treatment process.
The iTero scanner digitally captures the structure of the teeth and gums using the latest optical technology. The scanner is a compact, hand-held wand. Once our team begins the scanning process, it can be stopped and started as many times as necessary. Your mouth is scanned with a radiation-free laser, and in as little as 2-3 minutes, the scanner renders a digitally perfect, 3-D impression of your teeth and soft tissue structures. Through digital software, you’ll then be able to follow the progress of the scans, including a three-dimensional model of your teeth on our computer screen. The iTero scanner can be used for any orthodontic treatment, including traditional metal braces and clear aligner-based orthodontic systems.
CBCT
Less Radiation, Higher Resolution Images & Better Patient Care
Dr. Caggiano’s orthodontic office in Parsippany was among the first in the community to add a 3D extraoral imaging system to its office, revolutionizing patient treatment with highly detailed radiographs, or X-rays. By having true-to-life 3D images produced, Dr. Caggiano can provide quicker and more accurate diagnoses, improved treatment planning, and better patient care.
The Cone-Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) scanning system provides the advantages of high resolution, a minimal radiation dose, and the ability to target a very specific area. It is an industry-leading system that has been designed to dramatically enhance treatment planning while delivering fast, accurate results for enhanced patient communication.
The advantage of CBCT scans is that all patients receive the standard 2D scans that are routinely the standard of care in orthodontics. Then if a 3-dimensional view is needed, the CBCT system allows Dr. Caggiano to target the exact area for exposure. Thus, patients are exposed to significantly less radiation when they receive a 3-dimensional X-ray. Other tissues around the mouth area will not be unnecessarily irradiated. The system combines speed (taking X-ray images in as little as 12 seconds), image quality, and precision placement to dramatically reduce the need for retakes as well. Other 3D systems on the market do not allow orthodontists to also take 2D scans. Therefore, orthodontists with these machines are over-exposing their patients to unnecessary radiation.
DIBS AI Indirect Bonding
Braces Placed With More Accuracy, Allowing For Fewer Visits & Less Time Wearing Your Braces
You may have heard that getting your braces put on is a long and potentially uncomfortable appointment. The patient has to keep their mouth open for long periods as they hold their tongue back and away from their teeth. This is not the case at Caggiano Orthodontics, because Dr. Caggiano uses a technique called Indirect Bonding.
Indirect bonding is an advanced technique that allows Dr. Caggiano to place your braces all at once in a fraction of the time that it takes to place the braces on your teeth individually (the traditional way). Not only is the indirect method easier on the patient, but it also allows greater accuracy of brace placement. The accuracy of the placement of the braces allows your teeth straightening process to occur more quickly, therefore reducing treatment time.
The advantages of indirect bonding:
- The increased level of accuracy allows for faster progression, shorter total treatment time, and less time spent wearing braces!
- You will spend less time in the dental chair on bonding day.
- Fewer required adjustments mean fewer office visits! We are able to fine-tune bracket placement with unmatched precision. As a result, you have fewer follow-up appointments, which means less disruption to your everyday life.
If you’re in need of braces but aren’t looking forward to the discomfort, numerous checkups, and time spent in our orthodontic office, then be sure to ask us about indirect bonding with high-tech braces.

A Fast, Gentle Way To Accelerate Your Time In Invisalign
If you’re interested in improving the aesthetics of your smile, but you’re put off by the thought of having to spend months, or even years, in treatment, Propel could be right for you. Propel works with the patient’s own biology by stimulating the bone surrounding the teeth. Patients will finish their treatment with exceptional results in less time and with fewer treatment visits.
How Does Propel Work?
In the past 20 years, new treatment options have made our patients’ orthodontic experience more efficient, but not necessarily faster. That is, until now!
Propel works with your own biology by stimulating the bone surrounding your teeth, helping the teeth to move faster and more predictably into their ideal position. This allows you to see your new smile faster and requires fewer visits to our orthodontic office. Propel can be completed right here in our office and does not require any invasive surgical procedures. Additionally, Propel treatment yields very little discomfort. There is zero recovery time, and you will be able to return immediately to your normal daily routine.
Propel can be used for adults in Invisalign treatment looking to speed up their treatment process. To learn more, contact us today!
TADs
Faster Tooth Movement & More Efficiency With Temporary Anchorage Devices
Temporary anchorage devices, or TADs, are small titanium anchors used in certain orthodontic cases to help achieve quicker tooth movement with more efficiency and comfort. TADs may be used in addition to braces or as an alternative to headgear.
How Are TADs Placed?
A strong anesthetic is used to numb the gum tissue and the jaw surrounding the area where the TAD will be placed. Once the area is numb, your doctor will gently place the TAD through the gum tissue and firmly into the jawbone. The placing of a TAD is quick and may be over before you know it. While your doctor is placing the TAD, you may feel slight pressure, but within a day, you will no longer be able to feel the TAD. Your TAD is removed once your treatment is complete, or when it is no longer needed to help straighten your teeth. Removal of a TAD is a comfortable procedure that takes just a few minutes.
What Can I Do To Relieve Discomfort Caused By My TAD?
If you do feel any discomfort from having your TADs placed, Tylenol is recommended to help relieve your pain. If you continue to experience discomfort days after your treatment, please contact your dentist as soon as possible.
How Can I Keep My TAD Clean?
A TAD can be cleaned the same way you clean your braces: by brushing your teeth at least three times a day. When your TAD is placed, we will also provide you with an antimicrobial mouthwash that you will need to use twice a day.
If you have questions about TADs, please contact our office. We will be able to answer any of your questions and provide you with detailed information about your orthodontic treatment.
